The National Youth Day celebration was held at Anandathirtha Vidyalaya on 9th January 2024, three days ahead of the official observance on 12th January, to inspire young minds to follow the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. The event was attended by Scouts and Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls, as well as teachers.
The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest, Rajesh Nair, a lecturer at UBMC College, Manipal. In his speech, the chief guest quoted Swami Vivekananda's famous words, "They alone live who live for others; the rest are more than dead." He elaborated on the quote and encouraged students to cultivate a sense of service to humanity, following Swami Vivekananda's example. He also emphasized the importance of a positive attitude, urging students to replace negative thoughts with the empowering statement, "I can do it."
The chief guest shared valuable insights with the students, advising them to recognize the presence of God within themselves and to make it a habit to pray, saying, "O God, lead me and guide me in whatever I do."
The event's master of ceremonies was Ms. Twisha from the Guides. Ms. Sharvary Nayak (Guides) introduced the chief guest, while Master Anirudh Bhat (Scouts) spoke about the significance of the day.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Samstitha (Guides). The event left a lasting impression on the children, instilling in them an awareness of the importance of service to others.
