On 26th July, Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed with deep patriotism to honour the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
The ceremony began with a disciplined NCC parade, commanded by Cpl Varnica Shashidhar, followed by the arrival of the chief guest, Naib Subedar Chandrashekhar Navda, who was respectfully escorted to the stage by Principal Dr. Geetha Shashidhar.
The programme was anchored by Ms. Nirupama, with a warm welcome by Mrs. Vidya Kumari, introduction by Mr. Rajvardhan, and vote of thanks by Mrs. Geetha Praveen Bhat.
In his inspiring address, Naib Subedar Navda shared insights from the Kargil War, explaining how Pakistani troops violated the winter agreement and occupied Indian posts along the LoC. He urged students to ask,
“What have I done for my country?”
He emphasised that education shapes character and that we owe our identity to the nation. Quoting,
“If you sweat in training, you save blood in war,”
he also recalled the challenges faced during the Indo-China (1962) and Indo-Pak (1965) wars, where victory was earned through sheer courage and patriotism.
The NCC cadets paid tribute to the martyrs by lighting diyas and observing a minute of silence, leaving a powerful message of sacrifice and national pride.
