Parents’ Day Celebration – मातृ पितृ वंदना
By Scouts and Guides – Anandathirtha Vidyalaya, Pajaka Kunjarugiri
The Cub-Bulbul and Scout-Guide Wing of Anandathirtha Vidyalaya, Pajaka Kunjarugiri, organised a heart-warming Parents’ Day Celebration – मातृ पितृ वंदना on 7th August 2025 to honour and express gratitude towards parents for their unconditional love and sacrifices.
The event was held with great devotion, creativity, and enthusiasm under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Geetha Shashidhar, who presided over the programme along with the Chief Guest.
The programme began with a warm welcome by Ms. Samhitha Upadhya, Guide. Ms. Kruthika Shetty, Guide served as the Master of Ceremonies, ensuring the smooth flow of events, while Master Anirudha Acharya introduced the Chief Guest with respect and admiration.
The celebration was graced by Mr. Souurabh R. Chiplonnkaar, a distinguished Rashtrapati Scout awardee, as the Chief Guest. He began his address with the shloka
"मातृ देवो भव, पितृ देवो भव, आचार्य देवो भव, अतिथि देवो भव"
emphasising the sacred place of parents, teachers, and guests in our lives. He highlighted how fortunate the children studying at Anandathirtha Vidyalaya are, as they receive value-based education and are enrolled in the Cubs and Bulbul, Scouts and Guides movement. He added that this participation offers a range of benefits including character development, life skills, social awareness, and leadership training. Through such activities, children learn to be disciplined, responsible, and thoughtful, while also developing confidence and self-esteem.
Mr. Anantha Mahuli from the Dharmika Shikshana Department spoke on the importance of parents, reminding everyone that they are the very reason for our existence. He then guided the students through the Paada Pooja ritual—washing their parents’ feet, applying turmeric and kumkum, offering flowers, and finally touching the sanctified water to their eyes.
This touching gesture served as a powerful reminder that no matter how much we do for our parents, it can never measure up to the depth of their love and the sacrifices they have made.
To make the occasion even more special, children presented handmade greeting cards with personal messages to their parents, making them feel truly cherished. A vibrant Rangoli competition was also organised for parents, providing them an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents.
The Chief Guest and the Principal then presented prizes to the winners of the Best Greeting Card Making, Poster Making, Rangoli, and other competitions, encouraging creativity and enthusiastic participation.
The wholehearted support of the Principal, Scout Masters, Guide Captains, Cub Masters, and Flock Leaders contributed greatly to the success of the event. The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Samskrithi Shetty, Guide, leaving lasting memories for both students and parents.
Snacks were thoughtfully provided to all guests, adding a warm and pleasant conclusion to the joyful celebration.
